Has anyone seen any recent ELP official newsletters recently? My subscription hasn't run out (I should get one more issue), but I haven't seen anything in what must be at least six months. I called 1-900-GET-2ELP and it has apparently been disconnected. You may have heard it here, a few issues ago, when I mentioned that David Terralavoro, editor of "Fanzine for the Common Man," an unofficial ELP fanzine, had said in his last flyer that ELP were scheduled to return to the studio in June. By the way, in that same flyer, David said that he was preparing a booklet about ELP for release sometime soon. I haven't heard anything else from him since. lenh@mail.isc-br.com (Len Humbird) wrote: >... My favorite part was Blues Variation at the end of S1. Speaking of the Blues variation tune (is that "Interplay" by Bill Evans?), I found it kind of amusing in The Best video, where Keith Emerson and Jeff Baxter were playing that tune, and Joe Walsh walked over and just started whanging chords away in the middle of it. Was Joe wasted, or is this just normal for him? >Second favorite: Knife's edge. (Ever >tried to speed up the turntable at the end to see what it originally >sounded like?) Actually, I've tried that by spinning the turntable by hand. as far as I can tell, it's just a bit more of the organ trill, and a couple more drumbeats. Even if I spun it real fast, it still slowed down at the end. >I was also doing the air-keyboards on uneven parallel surfaces well into my >20's! I used to listen to Tarkus and imagine that I was operating this huge Industrial-age machine, with levers and cranks coming out of the floor, something like a cross between the Wizard of Oz's machine "behind the curtain" and something out of Chaplin's "Modern Times." This is an interesting turn that the band has taken since the spring of 1992, when Palmer had said that the reunited group would only be doing material by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Hang On To A Dream is one of my favorite two or three pieces done by The Nice. Not counting bootlegs, this will be ELP's fourth recording of "Pictures" and Greg's third version of "Father Christmas." It'll be interesting to see what Greg does for the vocals on both "Fire" (I hope they do the long version with the monologue at the beginning) and "21st Century Schizoid Man." The King Crimson song that I'd REALLY like to hear them play, though, is "Cat Food." With that wild piano part, Keith could do some interesting work! Does anyone have a list of credits for that side?
