Editor's Note:

Today is Keith Emerson's 70th birthday!!!! Happy Birthday, Keith!
Thanks for all the music, performances, and memories!

Also, it was 23 years ago (2 Nov 1991) that I sent out the first ELP Digest. (All back issues are available at http://www.brain-salad.com or http://www.elp-digest.com - it's quite an interesting tour through our own history of the internet to see how far the ability to share information has come since those early days!

Though I don't send out these Digests as much as I used to. There are more avenues for sharing information and, alas, there's less ELP-related news these days. But it's still nice to connect with the people and the music that has meant so much to me.

No real "submissions" but I do want to note that I was very fortunate to be able to attend one of the 2 concerts where Keith played with the South Shore Symphony at Molloy College on Long Island. It was great to hear Keith play and tell great stories.

Another highlight was hearing Jeffrey Biegel play Keith's Piano Concerto #1 in its entirety! I was very fortunate to hear Keith play it with the orchestra in Montreal at the end of the Works tour and Jeffrey's playing of it was just as powerful. And, since that performance, we've received word that Jeffrey has recorded the Concerto with the Brown University orchestra and that performance will be released on CD sometime in 2015!

To save you some time in Google or your search engine of choice, here are some great ways to read/see/listen to Keith's appearances on Long Island:

Also, I wanted to note that Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy is beginning a brief Eastern US/Canada tour later this week that runs through early December. I'm going to go to as many of the New England shows as I can. If you're there, please look for me and say, "hi!". It's always great to meet ELP Digest readers!
